1000 Hills Chef School is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our lecturers and students who recently competed in the prestigious Unilever Chef of the Year Competition regional and national stages.
Hosted by Unilever Food Solutions, the Chef of the Year competition is regarded as one of South Africa’s premier culinary contests. The competition celebrates chefs who are pushing boundaries, refining their craft, and cooking with purpose. With judging conducted by respected industry experts, the rigorous competition highlights innovation, technical excellence, creativity, and professionalism at the very highest level.

Following an exceptional performance at the regional competition, Chef Arhan Ramchurran advanced to the national finals of the South African Chef of the Year, where he achieved an outstanding Second Place overall. In addition to this remarkable accomplishment, Chef Arhan was also awarded the prestigious Hygiene Award, recognising the highest standards of kitchen professionalism, discipline, and food safety.
Chef Arhan’s success is a reflection not only of his culinary talent and dedication, but also of the standard of training and mentorship upheld at 1000 Hills Chef School. To compete on a national stage against some of the country’s top culinary talent and return with such honours is an achievement worthy of celebration.
