Where Are They Now?

From the Valley of a Thousand Hills to the World

One of the greatest rewards of what we do at 1000 Hills Chef School is watching our chef school graduates abroad and at home take the skills, knowledge, and confidence they gained here and build remarkable careers around the globe.

Whether they are leading kitchens in Dubai, sailing international waters, working on luxury wine estates, or pursuing opportunities in North America and Asia, our alumni continue to demonstrate that passion, hard work, and quality training can open doors anywhere in the world.

Chef Carmen Landsberg – Class of 2011

It was wonderful to welcome Chef Carmen Landsberg back to campus recently. Carmen, now the Global Executive Chef for Brunch & Cake in Dubai, stopped by to catch up with her former lecturer, Chef Jade.

From her beginnings in our kitchens to leading culinary operations on an international scale, Carmen’s success story is a powerful example of where dedication and talent can take you. We are incredibly proud of everything she has achieved and grateful that she took the time to visit her alma mater.

Chef Winner Shanuel Zimba – Class of 2022

When Chef Winner joined 1000 Hills Chef School from Zambia in 2022, he brought with him a passion for food and an even bigger passion for Formula One.

Winner and Mr T quickly bonded over their shared love of motorsport, never missing an opportunity to watch a race together. Fast forward a few years, and Winner is now working in Canada. Recently, he sent us this photo from the Formula One Grand Prix in Montreal, living a dream he often spoke about during his student days.

The Class of 2025 Goes Global

This year has already seen several members of our most recent graduating class embark on international adventures.

Chef Liya, Chef Lerato, and Chef Michael were recently photographed together at OR Tambo International Airport as they prepared to depart for New Orleans, where they have accepted positions with the renowned Brennan’s Group.

From KwaZulu-Natal to one of the world’s most iconic food cities, these young chefs are ready to showcase their skills on an international stage.

Also taking their talents abroad are Chef Journee and Chef Uno, who recently completed their training with Shosholoza Ocean Academy before joining MSC Cruise Ships.

We wish them fair winds, smooth seas, and incredible experiences as they begin this exciting new chapter.
